The Links Academy is designed to accommodate approximately 40 students aged 11-17 at our Hixberry Lane site. Many of these students will have been at risk of or will have been permanently excluded from a local mainstream school. Our aim is to reintegrate them either back to their home school after a 10 week programme or possibly to a new school.
While our Outreach team work with schools with the aim of enabling children and young people to experience success in all elements of their school life, particularly where challenging behaviour is preventing them from accessing learning or places them at risk of exclusion from school.
Our main teaching takes place at Hixberry Lane, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL4 0TZ. While the Outreach Team are based at Woollam Crescent, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 6EJ.
St Albans, Hertfordshire’s only city, has been welcoming visitors from far afield for over 2,000 years. St Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Street for travellers heading north and became the Roman city of Verulamium. It is a historic market town and still hosts twice weekly markets along with many specialty markets including Farmers and continental markets. There is a wide choice of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities. Accommodation is varied in both the rental and buying sectors with an excellent choice of local schools for children of all ages. There are plenty of places to get away from the hubbub and explore the local countryside and history. Not to mention a number of local health clubs.
St Albans lies about 19 miles (31 km) north-northwest of London with excellent rail services into St Pancreas International, to London Gatwick and London Luton airports. It is also well served by a number of motorways ways making it very accessible.
