As from February 2016 there are new Fixed Penalty Notice rules for truancy
Hertfordshire County Council has amended the Code of Conduct and process for issuing penalty notices for unauthorised absence.
From 1st February 2016 the following changes apply
· The number of unauthorised absence is reduced from 21 to 15 sessions, in the current and /or previous term. (Please note a session is a half a day of unauthorised absence, therefore 1 day of unauthorised absence is 2 sessions).
· The number of letters the school is required to send is reduced from 2 to 1, the previous warning and breach letters are now replaced with a single letter.
Missing school means missing out on learning and this can have an impact on your child’s development and attainment. There is a strong statistical link between attendance and attainment and it is through good attendance that children maximise their full potential and make the most of the opportunities that school has to offer.
There has been an increase in children having time out of school due to appointments. Please remember, should your child require a routine dental or medical appointment, please arrange these outside school hours, in order to minimize disruption to your child’s learning.
